| Mr. Dennis Wilbur Waid, age 62 of Franklin, died Saturday, September 4th, at his residence. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Tuesday at 2pm with burial to follow in Greenlawn Cemetery. A native of Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Neil Waid and Virginia Garapy Waid. He was a retired truck driver. He was preceded in death by 2 step grandchildren Trevon and Heather ONeil and 2 sisters and 5 brothers. Survivors include his wife Sue Norris Waid of Franklin; 1 son Jason Waid and wife Rhonda of Lewisburg, KY; 1 daughter Ginny Coleman and husband Wayne of Franklin; 5 brothers Larry and Joe Waid of Albany, KY, Bennie Waid of Burkesville, KY, Daniel Waid of Edmonton, KY and John Waid of Franklin; 2 grandchildren Brandi Coleman and fiancι Cody Blair and Eric Coleman and fiancι Gennie Harris; 1 great grandson Waylon Michael Blair. Ms. Tabatha Robinson, age 35 of Franklin, died Friday, August 20th, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Cremation was chosen. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 27th, at 1pm at Crafton Funeral Home. Rev. William Locke will officiate. A native Cincinnati, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Dianne Robinson Samuels. She was strong willed and feisty. Even though she had been sick most of her life, she never gave up. She was an inspiration to those who knew and loved her. Survivors include her step father William McKinnley Samuels and step mother Elizabeth Washington Samuels of Franklin; 5 step brothers William Michael Samuels (Carolyn) and Richard Samuels both of Franklin, David Samuels (Nina) of Indianapolis, Michael Antonio Samuels of Springfield, Tennessee and Richard Washington of Nashville; 4 step sisters Latosha Samuels of Springfield, Tennessee, Jerelene Samuels Odom and Teresa Samuels Bass (Charles) both of Franklin and Laquesha Washington of Nashville; 9 uncles Darren Jackson (Alice) of Nashville and Donald Jackson (Mary), Michael, Virgil, and Larry Jackson all of Cincinnati, Ohio, Joseph Samuels (Earlie) of New York, Jimmy (Babel), Bobby (Patty), Kenneth (Teresa) Samuels all of Franklin, Leon Samuels of Bowling Green. She had three devoted and life long friends, Carlesha Robey of Franklin, Priscilla Smith of Lexington and Michelle Carter of Bowling Green and a host of step nieces and nephews and cousins. Mrs. Tisha Michelle Cantrell Vaughn, age 38 of Franklin, died Tuesday, August 17th, at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home where services will be held Saturday at 1pm with Dr. C. Wyman Copass officiating. Burial will follow in the Cross Plains Cemetery in Cross Plains, Tennessee. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of Larry Cantrell and Vinnie Louise Evans both surviving in Franklin. She was a 1990 graduate of Franklin Simpson High School. Mrs. Dorothy Darlene Moore, age 56 of Bowling Green, died Thursday, August 12th at her residence. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Emmett Downey and Agnes King Downey. She was a member of the Pleasant View Church. A native of Wisconsin, she was the daughter of the late William Kaphengst and Alene Minshall Kaphengst. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Leslie Johnson and a grandson Lonnie Lawrence. Mr. Billy Jeff Cherry, age 86 of Franklin, died Wednesday, August 11th, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11am at Sulphur Spring Baptist Church with Dr. David Dean officiating. Burial will follow in the Sulphur Spring Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by the Simpson County Honor Guard. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Daniel Borthic Cherry and Nema Hatter Cherry. He was a member of Sulphur Spring Baptist Church, former member of the Sulphur Spring Cemetery Board, served 8 years on the Simpson County Board of Education, was the first chairman of the Simpson County Water District and served on the County Tax Appeal Board. Mr. Cherry was a World War II Army Veteran. He was preceded in death by his wife Ruth Potts Cherry. Survivors include 1 son Dan Cherry and wife Denita of Louisville; 1 brother Dr. Millard Ross Cherry of Nova Scotia, Canada; 3 grandchildren Lauren, Jeffrey and Alex Cherry of Louisville. A native of Simpson County, he was the son of the late Willis Bill Phillips and Hattie Smart Phillips. He was a mechanic at Rippys Auto Service and a Vietnam Navy veteran. Mrs. Sylvia Rose Dowell Stefanelli, age 97 of Allen County, died Monday, August 9th, at the Medical Center in Bowling Green. Burial will follow in Fairfield Cemetery in Sumner County Tennessee. A native of Allen County, she was the daughter of the late Henry Bolin Dowell and Julia Elizabeth Anthony. Mrs. Stefanelli attended Stony Point Methodist Church and was employed by Bentleys Dime Store in Franklin. She was preceded in death by her husband Leo Stefanelli, brothers and sisters Nellie D. Dowell Helmon and husband Archie Helmon, Cleo Anthony Dowell and wife Dorothy Angela Dowell, Byrd Dowell and Lee Dowell whose wife Sylvia Joyce Hood Dowell survives in Scottsville. Mr. Ron Duvall, Jr., age 49 of Franklin, died Saturday, August 7th, at the Medical Center in Franklin. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Crafton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2pm at the Woodburn Baptist Church in Woodburn, KY. Cremation will follow the service. A native of Jefferson County Kentucky, he was the son of the late Ronald Eugene Duvall, Sr. and Vivian June Harley. He was a manager with the Equity Group of Kentucky. He was a graduate of the University of Kentucky. Mr. Duvall was a member and deacon of the Woodburn Baptist Church Franklin Campus and a Franklin Simpson Band Dad for 8 years. Survivors include his wife Kathy Wimbrow Duvall of Franklin; 2 daughters Amanda and Ashley Duvall both of Franklin along with numerous Brothers and Sisters in Christ. Mr. Walter A. Grubba, Jr., age 67 of Franklin, died Sunday, August 8th, at the Hospice Center in Bowling Green. The family is honoring his request for a private service. A native of Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Walter A. Grubba, Sr. and Dorothy Grubba Ream. He was a graduate of Lutheran High West in Detroit and attended Ferris State in Big Rapids, Michigan where he obtained an optician licenses and worked in the optical field until his retirement. He is survived by 2 sons Walter A. Grubba, III and wife Susie of Grand Rapids, Michigan and Thomas Grubba and wife Jennifer of Hudsonville, Michigan; 1 daughter Rhonda Carver and husband David of Franklin; 2 sisters Shiny Haines and Muriel Romeos of Michigan along with several nieces; 6 grandchildren Erika and Rachel Grubba of Michigan, Sunnie carver-Gregory and J.D. Carver of Franklin and Hunter and Parker Grubba of Michigan; 1 step great granddaughter Madison Gregory of Franklin. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Dorothy Thompson Pitts, age 82 of Franklin, died Thursday, August 5th, at the Medco Center in Franklin. A native of Simpson County, she was the daughter of the late Emory Perkins and Mary Bratton Perkins. She was retired from Potter & Brumfield, was a member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church and American Legion Post 62 Ladies Auxiliary and the AARP. She was a former member of the Business and Professional Womens Club. She loved her family and friends and was always doing for others. She was an avid quilter all her life. Mrs. Pitts was preceded in death by a son Jimmy Thompson, 1 sister Sadie Barrett Gilbert and 1 brother Roy Perkins along with her husbands J.D. Thompson and Julian Pitts. A native of Macon County Tennessee, he was the son of the late Leon Simmons and Edith Irene Miller Simmons. He was a farmer and a carpenter. Mr. Simmons was a veteran of the United States Army. He was preceded in death by 2 brothers Louie and Bruce Simmons and 1 sister Ann Helmon, 2 nephews Scotty Russell and Jeff Helmon and 2 great nephew s Shane Sullivan and Wesley Russell.
